Tampa has two photography seasons: the cooler, drier months and the hot, stormy summer. Knowing the difference helps you pick a date.
Fall and Winter (October to March)
Cooler temperatures, lower humidity and more reliable weather. This is the busiest season for family, senior and wedding photographers, so book early. Sunset arrives earlier, so evening sessions start sooner.
Spring (March to May)
Warm, comfortable and bright. It is also peak wedding season and graduation season.
Summer (June to September)
Hot and humid with frequent afternoon storms. Evening sessions work best, and a rain date is a good idea. Studio sessions are a smart alternative for newborns and maternity.
Hurricane Season
The Atlantic season runs June to November. Review rescheduling terms in your contract so you know what happens if a storm affects your date.
Time of Day Matters Most
Whatever month you pick, the hour before sunset gives the softest light. See our golden hour timing guide, then browse the best photographers for your session on the Best Tampa Photographers directory.
