Tampa gives families a lot to work with: open water, old brick streets, shady boardwalks and Gulf sunsets. These are the locations the ranked family photographers use most, with notes on light and timing.
Ballast Point Park
South Tampa. A small park at the south end of Interbay with a fishing pier that looks back across Hillsborough Bay to the downtown skyline. Go in the evening for soft light on the water.
Bayshore Boulevard
South Tampa. The long waterfront sidewalk and balustrade give you clean lines and open water. Pick a quieter stretch early in the morning or just before sunset.
Tampa Riverwalk and Curtis Hixon Park
Downtown. City views, the river and lawns in one walk. Across the river, the silver minarets of Plant Hall at the University of Tampa make a classic backdrop.
Hyde Park Village
South Tampa. Brick walkways, shopfronts and shade trees. Good for families who want a polished, walkable setting.
Lettuce Lake Park
North Tampa. A boardwalk through a cypress swamp, with an observation tower over the river. Shady, green and calm, even in summer.
Ybor City
Ybor City. Brick streets, wrought-iron balconies and old cigar factories. Best for families who like a little more character in their photos.
Ben T. Davis Beach
Courtney Campbell Causeway. The closest beach to downtown, with open sand and sunsets over Old Tampa Bay.
Fort De Soto Park
Pinellas County. White-sand Gulf beaches and a historic fort, about an hour from downtown. Ask your photographer whether a permit is needed for your session.
When to Go
The hour before sunset is the most flattering almost everywhere on this list. From May to September, afternoon storms are common, so book an evening slot and agree on a backup date. Winter mornings are cool and clear, and good for families with very young kids.
