How We Rank Tampa Photographers

Every studio on a list is scored with the same formula, re-run every quarter. Here's exactly what goes into it.
The Score
Four Things, Weighted
Each specialty is scored separately, so a studio can rank on one list and not another.
Reputation
Google rating, adjusted for how many reviews it rests on, so a handful of perfect scores can't outrank years of happy clients.
Review volume
How many clients have reviewed the studio. More reviews means a more reliable rating.
Specialty focus
How much of the portfolio is the specialty. A studio that mostly shoots weddings won't top the newborn list.
Truly local
Based in the Tampa area with regular local sessions. Studios that only travel in aren't ranked.
Editors can adjust a score by up to 10 points for things the numbers miss, like a studio that recently closed or reviews that don't match the specialty. Every adjustment is logged.

Featured and Sponsored spots are labelled and shown outside the numbered list. They never change a score.
Awards can't be bought
Only studios that place in a top 10 get the 2026 award for that specialty.
Reviews are checked
We look for review patterns that don't add up and leave out studios that buy or swap reviews.
Every Quarter
The Review Calendar
New applicants and new reviews are added each quarter. Rankings and awards update about two weeks after each review starts.

How are photographers ranked on Best Tampa Photographers?
Each studio is scored on reputation (Google rating weighted by review count), review volume, specialty focus and whether it is truly local, then re-scored every quarter.
Can photographers pay to rank higher?
No. Rankings can’t be bought. Paid placements are labelled and never affect scores.
Why isn’t my favorite photographer on the list?
Lists are limited to ten studios per specialty, and studios must be based in the Tampa area and focused on that specialty. Photographers can apply to be reviewed each quarter.
Do you check for fake reviews?
Yes. We look for review patterns that don’t add up and leave out studios that buy or swap reviews.
